FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the RV Rescue Kit (DEF Sensor Simulator)?
RV Rescue Kit is a DEF sensor simulator that temporarily replaces a faulty DEF sensor for off-road/testing and troubleshooting use, helping reduce the chance of unexpected limp-mode while you diagnose the problem and plan proper repairs.
Will it work with my engine?
RV Rescue Kit is built for Cummins engines using the CM2350 ECM, including EPA13 and EPA17 platforms (commonly found on many Cummins engines produced since 2013).
Please also confirm your sensor connector for compatibility. It ships with a 4-pin Deutsch plug commonly used on Shaw DEF sensors. Adapters may be available, and wiring information can be provided.

How do I install it?
Installation is plug-and-play: unplug your DEF sensor and plug in the RV Rescue Kit in its place.
Will this affect or delete the emissions system?
No. Defeating emissions systems is illegal. RV Rescue Kit is not an emissions delete and does not bypass the aftertreatment system. Your engine will still use DEF and the ECM will continue monitoring exhaust output.
What do I need to do differently while using it?
-
Manually monitor your DEF level. Your gauge will display 75% regardless of the actual amount in the tank.
-
DEF temperature behavior: It will default to ambient air temperature provided by the ECM, or 75°F if ambient data isn’t available.
-
Do not use near freezing conditions: DEF freezes at 11°F. If outside air temps are near 11°F, DO NOT USE the simulator.
